A brief and colorful history of Molitor’s Quarry Grill & Bar
In 1979, owners Ron and Tammy met and began dating. A 20-acre plot of land in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota was purchased, and on it they planned their future. Marriage, children and building what was then known as Molitor’s Trout Heaven Park occurred — a place where you could catch your own trout dinner in a unique and relaxing atmosphere.
Everyone loved fishing at the trout farm, and many more people, including corporations, saw Molitor’s as a place to get together with friends, family, and co-workers. The surrounding communities began to recognize the out-of-the-ordinary quarry environment, but it wasn’t just the fish or the environment that was bringing people in. It was Ron and Tammy’s attention to detail given to each guest, and every party, that enticed the crowds to come.
Over the years, many additions to the park were made, including ball fields, a mini-golf course, petting zoo, and trails for hayrides and sleigh rides. In 1999, Molitor’s Haunted Acres premiered, beginning an annual Halloween tradition for local residents. Molitor’s Haunted Acres has now grown into a huge show bringing in customers from all over Minnesota!
Also, during the late 1990’s, people began to realize how perfect the setting at Molitor’s would be for a wedding. The bookings started coming in, and have grown by leaps and bounds over the years, both as a ceremony and a reception venue.
In 2010, the building of the Grill & Bar became a dream come true. The doors opened to the new restaurant in September of that year. Many people have come through those doors, and most don’t like to leave. Molitor’s Quarry is a comfortable place, one where you always feel welcome. It is a place where you never run out of things to do, and you are always sure to have a great meal and a great time.
